You can now order beer and wine at The Plaza Restaurant, The Crystal Palace, and The Diamond Horseshoe at the Magic Kingdom. In 2012, Be Our Guest restaurant was the first to serve alcohol. Since then, four other restaurants -- Tony's Town Square, Liberty Tree Tavern, Skipper's Canteen, and Cinderella's Royal Table -- have begun serving alcohol.
An new signature dining restaurant will be coming to the Japan pavilion in Epcot. The new restaurant's setting will draw from both nature and takumi (a word meaning “artisan” in Japanese), as well as the relationship between Japanese craftsmanship and the natural world. Mistukoshi USA will operate the new restaurant (they currently operate the other restaurants, stores, and kiosks in the pavilion). No opening date has been announced yet.
The annual Christian music festival traditionally held in September for the past 35 years will no longer take place at Walt Disney World. Last year was the last event. Disney says various Christian groups and artists will still continue to hold concerts at the resort in Florida. For example, MercyMe and Tauren Wells are on the schedule to perform later this year at Disney's Eat to the Beat Concert Series.

A new quick-service refreshment stand, Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats, opened at Disney California Adventure over the weekend. The Monsters Inc.-themed stand (it's not Abominable Snowman, it's Adorable Snowman, get it?) is near the entrance of the soon-to-open Pixar Pier. The big draw here is the non-dairy lemon soft serve ice cream (we hear it's something like the lemon version of a Dole Whip). You can get it plain, swirled, in a parfait, dipped in white chocolate, or as a root beer float!
On "Star Wars Day" (May the Fourth) runDisney announced the re-branding of next year's Star Wars-themed race weekend April 4-7, 2019 at Walt Disney World. Beginning next year, runners participating in the race weekend will get to choose which side of the Force they support: light or dark! As in past years, the race weekend includes 5K, 10K, and a half marathon, plus kids races. Runners can opt to try the "Star Wars Rival Run Challenge" by running BOTH the 10K AND the half marathon during the race weekend, and they can also do the runDisney Kessel Run Challenge by completing the half marathon at the Resort and the Star Wars Virtual Half Marathon at home.
